I took birch leaves from my back yard to my workbench and traced around them onto a sheet of Sterling silver. Then I sawed out the shapes and, using the techniques of repoussé and chasing, added the veins and texture. Afterwards I hammered some additional texture onto them, soldered on the stems, and added some natural gemstones of rose cut moss aquamarine, which are the lovely blue that aquamarines are known for, but with exquisite inclusions of Ilmenite, which give it a unique moss pattern. I mean, what could possibly go better with silver birch trees than moss?
These are post style earrings with backs. Although they might seem large, they are nearly as light as the leaves they are modeled after owing to their hammered construction.
