these boulder opals look like a rocky West coast beach with salt water swirling around the dark rocks. maybe a storm is coming, or maybe it has just passed, and I'm sitting on the shore, enjoying the tingly, fresh salt water air and hoping to spot a mermaid... or a merman.
the two picture stone boulder opals are from Broken River Mining in Queensland, Australia. i love their opals because not only are they stunning and excellent quality, they are ethically mined from start to finish; the family that does the mining replenishes the land after their small-scale mining operations, and shape the opals themselves.
i set these Australian boulder opals in .999 fine silver bezels surrounded by Sterling silver. at the top of the earrings are two moss aquamarines which have a lovely, soft aqua color that does not show up well in photos. the beads are labradorite. All components are hand made by me.
